How do you Vacation?

July 3, 2010 No Comments

Many of us vacation. Most of us vacation to get away from the craziest of Life, the schedule you have to be on, the time you have to get up in the morning. We are sick of it and need to get away from it. Some of us go on short three day trips to a nearby resort, or some of us go away for a month or two to a foreign country but really do we get away from it all? Do we really allow our selves to just drop off the side of the earth? Should we?

These are questions that I asked myself before I leave on vacation. What do I need to bring? What Should I wear? Will I have Wifi there? Will my cell phone work? I worry about these things because I want to bring stress with me. Not necessarily do I say this to my brain, but this is an auto function. Many of us bring the “craziness” with us without knowing that this is truly what we want to get out of. Before I left on vacation, I made sure I had a smart phone, cell phone, laptop, iPod and before I left made sure I had access to the internet. What was I doing? I wanted a vacation not a work-cation.

Many people need the control of what’s going on and need to know what is happening and why. And while they are on vacation, they need to take control and drive themselves crazy to a point where they want to be back at work, and are dyeing to come home. This is defiantly not my case, but my case would be more of you are relaxing outside drinking you “non alcoholic” beverage and you hear that little beep sound going off from the inside of your room. You think for a few minutes, “nah” I’m not going to get up”. Five minutes later, you are so curious you go check your phone. There are two things I hate the post, seeing Drama while I am on vacation. You feel you have to handle things but you shouldn’t.

Then I think to myself well I have my computer why not check my email! 100 Unread emails, then I read all and reply. I think, wow some of these were not things I needed to read now. But I have anyway. Relax and enjoy your vacation. Some people cannot relax without there devices because they believe something may have gone wrong and that they need some way to stay connected. If that’s how you are FINE bring your iPhone, iPad, netbook, laptop, external monitor, external hardrive and the kitchen sink. Just enjoy your vacation and man try to relax
